The Court (Easterbrook/Scudder/St. Eve, with Scudder writing) reversed dismissal of a prisoner’s complaint with prejudice during the 1915A screening. There is good language in the opinion that a Complaint does not need to detail all legal elements with corresponding facts–indeed, Complaints need not plead legal theories at all. There is also good language suggesting that prisoners have First Amendment protections even in certain interactions with prison staff.
